Cayman Project Continued RennsportKC
I’m not sure where to even start. I looked at my desktop of all the picture folders I have categorized and ready to blog about, but it is a bit overwhelming. I’ve got to take a couple days off just so I can catch up on blog….for work! Last we saw, I think I had the Cayman engine out of the car and ready to swap over. I got all the accessories transferred from the old engine over to the …

Porsche 944 LSx Wiring
Last couple of weeks I have been slowly tinkering with building the wiring for the car from scratch. No original wiring left in the car, everything was removed, and I am wiring only the things I need/want. It is very time consuming, and reading wiring diagrams is repetitive, but also a lot of fun to be able to build from scratch! Figured out a mounting solution for the larger LSX computer in the stock location. Wish I had not have …

I’ve Been Wu’d
Not many people will get that, but it makes me laugh. Had this daily driver come into the shop this week after I turned down the job on the car. That’s getting Rich Wu’d. In fact I blame Rich. He called me and asked me about the repair for his brother, and not really knowing much about Nissan’s, other than the fact that girls drive them (and Rich, he’s had like 10), I turned it down as I was too …

BMW 330Ci Maintenance
Picked up the BMW the other morning for service as the owner had complained about having an burning smell in the cabin at stop lights. Up on the lift to check it out! Found the leak was pouring out of the valve cover gasket at the front of the motor, so a replacement was needed! But, on the way to the shop, I noticed the car was not getting up to operating temperature. Figured likely a stuck thremostat. Pulling apart …
Had this Jaguar in the shop last week for a V1 install. Owner wanted it hardwired in so he didn’t have the power cable dangling in his way. No problem! This is another powerful car that is a riot to drive. Lot of HP through the supercharged motor. To hardwire to switched ignition so the unit turns on and off with the start button, I tapped into the wiring in the overhead light area. Main harness connector for that overhead …
Had this 911SC come into the shop last week for some last minute clutch adjustment before Thanksgiving break. The car was guttering severely in 1st and reverse. I got in and first thing I noticed was a very catchy clutch pedal. Up in the air it goes. First thing I did was clean the clutch pedal spring assembly as they can get years of gunk in them and start to bind up. Some silicone spray after cleaning and the pedal …

Porsche 997S Maintenace RennsportKC
Had this 997 come into the shop today with a flat tire. While it is here, we are going to catch up on some maintenance and give it a good look over. Turns out the rear tire was completely blown out due to driving on a low tire. With new tires on order, I started giving the car a good inspection. At 48k miles, it is past due on spark plugs, which is now recommended by Porsche every 4 years. …

Squeeks Maintenance RennsportKC
After knocking a bunch of work today, I put Squeeks on the lift for a quick oil change and tire rotation….which then turned into new brake pads….which then turned into new front rotors…..which then turned into new brake lines in the front…..which then turned into a new caliper on the front left side. GRRRRRRRR This evening was a giant kick in the balls. I knew pads and rotors were coming up as the fronts have the typical Jeep warpage, and …

Jagermeister Vinyl: Fitment Feedback
Ok, I think I already have decided, but give me some feedback! #1. Same setup as the 935 Kremer. The difference, was no sunroof on the 935, so the line from the sunroof seal didn’t get in the way. I would cut a line in the vinyl so the sunroof could still be removed if needed. The downside is that there would be a black sunroof seal line running through white lettering. or #2 Swapping the 935 hood vinyl on …
Work continues on the 964 C4. I had a few spare hours, so I decided to tackle the front of the motor to get rid of one pesky oil leak we had coming from the front crankseal and the IMS o-ring. Passenger side timing chain cover. A lot of crap has to come off to get to these buggers, and it is easiest out of the car. These weren’t leaking, but since they are a real pain in the car, …
