Boxster Oil Air Separator
Pretty standard repair around these parts. A little white smoke out the exhaust, some odd running issues due to a vacuum leak. Meh, not the end of the world.
Side of the engine gives you access to part of the OAS.
And the top is the other part.
And out of the car……..and because we can, we cut it open to inspect the innards.
Which has a nice tear in it. Back together with a new OAS and we should be good to go!

Was the car smoking only at startup, or would it continue afterwards? I have a 987 and get a cloud of white smoke on startup, but it goes away after 30sec. I was contemplating this repair myself as it seems pretty DIY firendly.

Hi Justin,
If it is smoking for 30 seconds, likely the AOS is on it’s way out. It should only puff for a second or two and be done. Eventually it will get bad enough that it will start smoking on you all the time…..it will be a mosquito fogger driving down the road 😉
