GT3 #2 Prep
Getting this little GT3 ready for the upcoming DE at HPT. The car is pretty well set up, but needed to get rid of some of the remaining rubber components in the suspension. First thing we wanted to do was to get the coolant out of the system so we could replace it with 100% water and water wetter. After pulling the fender liners, we can get to the front 3 radiators to drain them. And drain the engine. Fill …

911 SC Fuel Pressure Diagnosis
We are having a very brief cold start problem in this 911SC. After the car sits for about 8 hours, it struggles to start for a few seconds. Once it has started once, it will start immediately for the next 6-7 hours like everything is normal. Once it sits overnight, it struggles again. This makes diagnosing the issue very difficult, as you can’t tweak something, check it, tweak something else, check it. Instead you get one shot, then have to …

997 Maintenance
Had this very early production 05 come in the other day for a window issue, brake fluid flush, and oil change. Draining the oil and of course installing a magnetic drain plug. And bleeding the brake system. This car had the typical “window goes back up after you release the handle” which makes closing the door a real pain, so a new door latch mechanism was in order. Unfortunately, the 997 is much harder to get to than the 996 …

Porsche 997 Turbo S Upgrades
Installed a bunch of upgrades on this 2010 Turbo S this week. mmmm shiny. Fabspeed X-pipe exhaust, headers, and intake. First thing we needed to get rid of though was the K40 Calibre laser shifter system. And install something that actually works 🙂 Funky angle, but the heads are mounted in the front grill. Important to get them level and even with each other. ECU was reflashed to EVOMS software for a nice bump in hp and tq. The old …

993 C2S PSS9 Install
The car we brought back from the NJ PPI 🙂 We knew it would need a new suspension, so Mark found a set of PSS9’s for it and I went about the install this last week. While I was in there, it got the remaining 6 upper spark plugs and new hood and hatch struts. Courtesy of Rennlist. Front end coming apart. And bilstein installed 😉 Rears are a little more involved, but doable. We have a little drop link …

911SC Shock Replacement
Went after the leaking rear shocks on this 911SC today. The left rear was completely blown out and puking oil everywhere, so it needed to be replaced. I also found the air intake boot torn, so we will be replacing that while we are in there. Top nut of the shock is accessed behind the engine. The lower shock bolts on this car were incredibly seized up, but a big enough breaker bar and some heat took care of that. …

964 Oil Leak Repairs
This little 964 came in the other day to have some oil leaks repaired. While it is a fairly low mileage car, the rubber seals will still go bad with age and start to leak. This one had it bad. Timing chain gaskets, valve cover gaskets, but the big one was the oil pressure sending housing (thermostat housing on the older 911s), and the breather plate gasket. While you can get to the rear gaskets with a partial drop and …

Another 964 Distributor Rebuild
We’ve seen this car via a PPI before, but now it was time to get that 23 year old distributor belt taken care of before it broke. There were no records of it ever being replaced, so we decided to get it done. Up and ready to go. Now you see it…. Now you don’t 🙂 After removing the wires, caps, and rotors, out comes the distributor. I thought it might show up a little better in the picture, but …

911 SC No Start
Had this little 911SC come in on Saturday via Tommy the tow truck. Poor little guy wouldn’t start 🙁 So yesterday we got it on the rack and quickly found out the fuel pump was on it’s way out. It was creating so much resistance that it was blowing the fuse. When we go through a fuel system like this with a new pump, we also replace the accumulator and the fuel filter as they are common failure items. Getting …

Signs of spring:
Cold and rainy Sunday but I look out into the shop and see this: Convertibles and cabrios everywhere! Awesome!
