964 Work Continued

Got the 964 cab back last week to install some more parts and try and figure out a running issue it is having. Up and ready to work. First thing to do was to ditch the stock cat and replace with a cat bypass pipe. Much better 😉 This will provide more power and better sound. Then we had to do something about that ugly tip, so I threw it in the bead blaster and hit it with some high …

Had this low mileage 997TT come in the other day for an oil change and a new set of tires. The rear tires were pretty well shot by 10k miles, so it was time to get some new rubber on the rims! Pretty basic oil change, nothing to see here 😉

Porsche 964 C4 PPI

Had a new enthusiast stop by with a 964 he is going through the purchase process on. A beautiful 40k mile C4, it is pretty rare to see them in this nice of condition anymore. A few minor issues, but I think he is going to be happy. We gave the go ahead on this car and will knock out a few simple repairs on it, and this should be a great 964! A little quiz. There is one light …

Project 964 C4

Now that we have ironed out all the previous owner issues with the silver fox, it is time to start modifying this puppy 🙂 First things up are a lot better exhaust note along with some additional horsepower. First things first. Getting a decent throaty exhaust like a sports car should have. A Catbypass pipe and secondary muffler bypass….ohhh yea. Pulling the old exhaust tip off, it is pretty rusty and ugly. Since we have to reuse this, off to …

3.2L Carrera PPI

This is why you do PPI’s. Buying a car from out of state can be a gamble. This 911 came in for a PPI, but something just wasn’t right. The car felt like it was running a few cylinders short. We tested every sensor in the car thinking it had to be and air, fuel, or spark issue, but everything checked out. Then out came the leakdown and compression gauges. The results weren’t good 🙁 But…it saved an unsuspecting buyer …

Wes had this 996 come into the shop this weekend while we were at Daytona. The headlights weren’t working anymore, which is usually due to the headlight switch, which he was able to replace and fix the issue. Then it was time for an oil change today. I put the car up in the air and changed the oil, but I think we have a bigger issue brewing. Judging by reciepts, this car had a RMS/clutch replacement….but no IMS upgrade/seal …

VRRROOOOOOMMM!! Goodbye secondary muffler, hello bypass pipe.

964 Cab Continued

Slowly plodding along with our 964 project as we have time. We are waiting on one of the gauges to come back from NHS. The face was de-laminating over the warning lights, so we sent it out to be replaced. A little ridiculous that they wouldn’t sell us a new face, as the install is no different that replacing the odometer gears (different gauge). Oh well. So….we are putting on a cup bypass pipe, so I dropped the secondary muffler …

We’ve seen it time and time before, but odd electrical issues often point to a bad ignition switch in these cars. Up under the dash is the ignition switch, fairly straight forward replacement with the right tool. Old switch showed some sponginess in it, so this should solve the problem.

Last year we put in a new clutch into this 993TT and did the spark plugs, etc for the 30k service while the motor was out. Today it came in to finish the 30k and to install a new strut brace in the front end. Cup strut brace ready for install. Going with a completely stealth install on this puppy. I wasn’t sure if the amp would give problems, but it cleared without any issues. Installed behind the carpet. And …
