964/993 Twin Distributor Belt Rebuild
One of the most commonly overlooked belts on the 964/993 is the one that you can’t see (other than the 993 PS belt, lol). The twin plug distributors use an internal belt to time both ignition rotors together, allowing the cylinder to fire on both the top and bottom spark plug. If this breaks, the secondary ignition rotor stops spinning, thus no spark to half of the spark plugs. If you are lucky, the rotor stops in a position between …

Porsche 996 IMS Bearing Update Part I:
Brought this 996 in this week to start an intermediate shaft bearing upgrade as preventative maintenance. I wrote an article for the KCRPCA newsletter this past month, so here is the actual procedure in a little more depth. Up in the air ready to rock. Awolnation provided the beats, and I started tearing out the parts. A lot of stuff needs to be removed including the lower suspension carriers, transaxle, and clutch assembly. The side skirts have taken a little …

964 Alternator
Still trying to chase down a slow drain in this 964. Stereo shop said alternator wasn’t putting out (insert joke here) enough voltage, which I disagreed with, but we decided to replace the alternator anyway…….now we get to chase a constant awd light on the dash. Great. Making a big mess. Pushing out the old fan bearing and spacer sleeve.
The Mustang caused this poor car to get shoved on the back burner for awhile, but we had time to finish it up the other day after I rolled the fenders. Once that was done and all the clearances were perfect, we sent it over the the state of the art alignment facility. We aren’t sure when the last time this car was aligned, but it has been awhile since all 4 corners were badly out of spec.

911 Fender Rolling
To finish up our 911 Brembo Big Brake Project, we needed to roll the fender to better accommodate the Lindsey Racing wheels. Since these wheels fit like “Socks on a Rooster,” we needed to do some fixing to get rid of the rubbing. So out comes the fender roller 🙂 I really just needed the noon position to be rolled, but since that area is hard to catch with the camera, I thought the front edge would be easier to …

964 C4 No Start
Customer down the street came by today with a dead 964 that he had just bought. It came in to town on the flatbed, and after sitting for a couple weeks wouldn’t start. After getting the car fired up, and checking the charging voltage which was determined to be in spec, a quick battery replacement, and we were back in business.

EVT750 Comes In For Some Mods :)
Glad to have the EVT750 car back in my grasps 🙂 Angel came by today so we could pull the Fabspeed mufflers off to listen how the car would sound with straight pipes…..and we liked it. We will get the muffler bypass pipes ordered and slapped on this puppy 😀 With the Fabspeed (we are also an authorized dealer/installer), the system is modular, so you can swap sections out to fit your needs. Ohhhh yeah. Up on the lift ready …
These bad boys came in today for the 76S project we have going. I should have time to start the install tomorrow 🙂

RUF RGT
Rolled this RUF RGT through the shop this weekend. It was having an issue with the blower fan in the interior as well as a fuel gauge issue. After a little tracing, the blower fan issue was the result of a relay going bad. Then was on to the fuel sender unit. It was jammed on some hoses in the tank, so after reconfiguring that, all was well again.

997 40k Service
Brought in this nice 997 for it’s 40k service last Friday. Up for work was plugs (every 4 years now), filters, oil change, etc. Going after the air filter. The old filter was fairly dirty, so a new filter went in, along with a cabin filter on the front end. New filter going into the box. Then it was time to go after the plugs. A quick drop of the mufflers on the 997 gives easier access to #1 and …
