Porsche 996TT P1109
Had this little 996TT come into the shop this week for a P1109 code. The local dealer charged the owner $200 to diagnose it, telling him the code was a mass air flow sensor issue and due to the aftermarket EvoMS intake…they removed the sensor and cleaned it with no help. Recommendation was $1500 worth of OEM airbox and new maf sensor, not covered by the $4000 warranty that he bought with the car. The problem is…..a P1109 code is …

996TT Fuel Pump Issues
Had this 996TT come in on the hook this week for a no start issue. Pretty common issue in the 996TT’s….start, runs for a second or two like normal, then shuts off. While the fuel pumps are pretty hearty, the lines to the pump inside the tank are not. Pump is under the front bonnet. It is a octopus of hoses really. What happens is they will crack in various places, keeping the fuel pump from being able to pressurize …

Porsche TPMS sensor deactivation
This is a problem we are seeing more and more these days with the DOT mandated TPMS sensors on all cars produced after 2008 IIRC. The government has decided that since some people can’t or won’t check the air in their tires anymore, that they should require sensors to be installed in all cars from the factory so it can tell you when a tire is low. The issue is that these are battery powered sensors in each tire, with …

New Lift?
Running on a bit of a limited schedule this week as we had a lift start to act up (ok, I should have died under it long ago), so we have pulled it out and are waiting for Myers brothers to install a new Rotary next week. Should be back up to full capacity early in the week!

Honda Trail 70 Rebuild Part 2
Had some time over the last couple of days to start prepping and cleaning parts for paint and powdercoating. Front forks, rear swing arm, and chain guard ready for paint. The main frame cleaned up and ready. And a bunch of chrome pieces sanded and beadblasted, ready to go to powdercoating. Front shocks disassemble easily, so those were torn down before going to paint. Hopefully I will have the new headlight bucket by the end of the week and then …

Honda CT70 Rebuild
At the beginning of the winter we picked up a couple of bikes for projects. Wes with the Chinese clone of the Ural clone of the BMW, and he also found me a Honda Trail 70 for a sweet ass pit bike. It arrived not running and in pretty rough shape. We went through the stator, wiring harnesses, coil, etc before I finally decided to do something different. The more I looked at the bike, the rougher it looked, and …
Here’s our buddy Jerry and his gorgeous XKR. It came to see me because it was losing Pentosin CHF-11S from the power top mechanism. This one button system is super cool but the lines are a problem sometimes. The pump is in the trunk. And so was the first leak. Right at the fitting. These lines run from the pump in the right side of the trunk, up the left side A-pillar, over to the latch. Repair means taking most …

The Site Is Up And Running
Huge thanks to Shoutcloud Studios for redesigning and implementing the new website! There are a couple new additions including the NEW classifieds section where we will regularly list overstock/takeoff/used parts for sale. While we are still doing some testing and making sure all the links and such work, as of the right now most of it is functional. Hope you guys like the new look, we sure do! Note: And I have just noticed that comments are closed for some …

914 Exsanguination
This is a cool car…one owner 2L in really nice driving shape. Only trouble was she is bleeding to death. Several small leaks and one biggie, the main. So out with the drivetrain and off with the flywheel. Look at all that oil slinging out. While we’re in there we’ll take care of this. With the engine back in we see this. Mechanics did this on these cars for years. They add another solenoid instead of fixing the starting system. We’ll …
