A few things needed for our project have arrived, so I was able to make pretty decent progress on it this week. The fuel pump was noisy when hot, so I replaced that with a new bosch pump. Not uncommon for these old pumps to get noisy with heat, so a good preventative measure before it locked up on us. Then something fun 🙂 Aero mirror conversion. The kit comes with about a bazillion little pieces to assemble. The main …
Had a little work to do on this 993 before sending it out the door to Connecticut. Typical of 993’s with any kind of mileage, the suspension was pretty well worn out. The owner shipped a bunch of product in to me, and I got to work. He decided to go with the european setup of B6 bilsteins coupled with M033’s, larger sway bars, and a set of used Fabspeed mufflers. Up and ready to get to work. The new …
Have this neat 928 in the shop right now for some repairs before it finds a new home. A pretty cool car, S4 with sunroof delete, 5 speed manual, and sport seats. First up was an oil and filter change. And some general maintenance checks. Typical of a 928, they are a breeding nest for rodents. Wes sucked down and charged the A/C with R12. A very slow leak over the years had run it low on freon. Then it …
After we got the truck out of the way, I tackled this 964. The steering had a “catch” in it when turning. The rack on the 964 can become pitted and not operate smoothly, causing this catch. The solution is a re manufactured rack. Body panel removed, and the rack stuck up behind the front diff. The fluid in this thing was disgusting. Not sure what it was, but out it came and the system was flushed. And after a …
Had a buddy bring in his 1500 Chevy that was making a horrible racket from one of the front wheels. The chevy trucks are pretty notorious for having these wheel bearing hubs go out, and they can be a rusted bugger to change out. The bearing assembly is what fails, and it is all part of the hub unit that gets replaced. First, we are going to show you how to NOT grease a suspension. One of his helpers did …
Had this little guy come into the shop this week for some work. We have been waiting a little while for this car, and it is finally back. I believe this one was originally sold at Art Bunker Porsche here in town back in 89, and finally is back in KC Long story short, but we have a set of SSI heat exchangers and a RarelyL8/M&K muffler to install. After a bit of work, the old system comes down and …
Hey buddy, are you honking at me????? Fairly common issue here. You are driving down the road and hit a little bump, and the horn honks on it’s own. Once in awhile, you can deal with it. I mean, the chick in the sports car next to you at the red light thinks you are honking at her, you make her day, she smiles and drives off. You think, “I am the man.” At the next light, the horn honks …
Vlad the Impaler is back. Finished up this job for a friend who just got done refurbishing his brakes. He was able to get most of the job done on jack stands, but the rear lines are really tough to get to. Stuck up behind the trailing arm with little access. Look, the reflection off the shiny new lines makes everything look better! Then I took care of a brake lining warning light. The new sensor wires that were installed …

It’s Hot
—What’s your name? –“My name’s Roosevelt E. Roosevelt.” —Roosevelt, what town are you stationed in?. –“I’m stationed in Poontang.” —Well, thank you, Roosevelt. What’s the weather like out there? –“It’s hot. Damn hot! Real hot! Hottest things is my shorts. I could cook things in it. A little crotch pot cooking.” —Well, can you tell me what it feels like? –“Fool, it’s hot! I told you again! Were you born on the sun? It’s damn hot! I saw – It’s …
This has been an ongoing project for some time now. The car came in with a horrible knock in the motor after the motor was run 4 quarts low on oil. Now common sense always tells us what the outcome of this will be. We worked with the owner to try and do some cheap options first to see if they would solve the issue, but in the end, the cheapest way always ends up being the most expensive way. …
