Porsche 911T Progress

Well….not much has been going on with the 911T project. Machine shop is slow, so the motor rebuild isn’t done yet. I hear the lower end is together though, so we are making some progress.

The car came back from paint and looks incredible. With the glass still out, I took the opportunity to pull the dash so we could replace the center speaker. In the early 70s, many of the 911’s had dash issues. The original dash had a removable grill so the speaker could be changed out if needed. Unfortunately, Porsche recognized the dash issue, and dealers installed replacement dashes that had no removable grill. Thus, you can’t replace the speaker without pull the windshield and the dash!

With the dash out, we had a custom speaker made with a little newer technology. The guys got that installed, then I put the dash back in, and Steve from Pro Built who did the paint came in and put the glass back in. I hate the damn trim in those seals, so I delegate that pain to someone else!

When I saw this post I assumed it was a Wes project. It is looking good, what kind of hardware are you going to put on the engine?
