Busy Weekend Again
After the Donkey left on Saturday, a few more rolled in. I had some quick work to do on our 997TT project to get it ready for Hallett next Saturday. Then came in a 996TT (also headed to Hallett) for a clutch accumulator and a brake fluid flush. I should take stock in 996TT clutch accumulators. This will be the 3rd one this month. PSS9 Adjustments
Saturday morning I knocked out an oil change on an 05 Boxster right away after PCA breakfast, and then had a buddy bring by his 996TT that was having some erratic suspension behavior when it would hit bumps. The kit had been adjusted previously to try and stop this behavior before it came to me, but they were definitely adjusted incorrectly. 996TT Window Issue
Knocked out another window issue on a 996TT last night. Same issue as our boxster a few months ago, window dropped when the door handle was pulled, but would go back up, making shutting the door harder. Issue was once again the door latch mechanism. I’ll post pictures later, but the cam wheel on the microswitch sensor deteriorated, causing a no contact situation (the door handle microswitches over ride this switch when pulled). 996TT Clutch Accumulator
Had a 996TT come in today with a failed hydraulic accumulator. Up in the air. Tall rams would work best as the jack stands sit unfortunately right where you need to be working at. The accumulator is up on the side of the slave cylinder and is a real bugger to get to. You will need to modify a couple wrenches to get at it. Updates…….
Been banging away at the cars in my spare time. Our 968 braking issue turned out to indeed be front warped rotors even though they only had 2000 miles on them. Lesson learned here is that when common sense and experience tell you something is broken, don’t look past it just because that item has been replaced recently……new parts fail, rebuilt parts fail, new rotors warp, stuff happens. 996TT Fuel Leak
Our big turbo project car came back in after a strong fuel smell popped up recently. My initial thought was that maybe the fuel pressure regulator o-ring was pinched when we installed the bigger 5 bar regulator, causing a small leak. I was a bit surprised when that was not it at all, but rather a completely unrelated issue…….the metal fuel filter had sprung a pin hole leak, and was spraying gasoline out at a pretty darn good rate! 996TT K16g Turbo Upgrade
Have a car in today for a turbo and ecu upgrade. 2002 996TT with 70k+ miles on it. The old turbos are starting to show signs of leakage, so time to upgrade to a little more power. Turbos and programming came from Tony at EPL. First thing to do is to raise up the rear of the car and get it supported on jackstands safely.
