951 Work
Last night a beautiful 951 came in for some service. Sadly, it isn’t driven much, but the car is in great shape. We are going to go through a few maintenance items on it (oil change, spark plugs, sway bar bushing, coolant oring, etc), install a Vitesse Racing k26/6 tuning chip, and a manual boost controller once everything is sorted out. Stay tuned.

968 Fuel Stumble
Symptoms: 1. Fuel gauge that would randomly read different values, so you never knew how much gas was in the tank 2. Hesitation would appear after filling the car with gas. 3. Fuel smell 4. Lot of pressure released when opening the gas cap. Last fall we had torn into the fuel system due to a hesitation it was having after filling up with gas. Aaron had also noticed that the tank let off a lot of pressure when opening …
Got the parts in today for this car, so I went ahead and swapped them out while I am waiting for the headlight washer nozzles to show up. Stuck back in the corner is the filter and accumulator. Accumulator out and going after the filter. Once I got the accumulator out, I realized why the bottom line was so hard to get on. Not sure how the heck you smash the fitting on an accumulator, but someone made it possible! …
Aaron brought by his 968 last night to have me go through the speedometer cluster. The 944/968/911’s are notorious for the plastic odometer gears breaking, and thus the miles stop accumulating as you drive 😉 Aaron of course brought this in immediately when it broke 🙂 How do they break? Well over time, the plastic can get brittle and just flat fall apart, but the #1 cause is from people hitting the odometer/trip reset button while the car is moving. …

83 911 SC
Mike dropped off his nice 83 SC for some work yesterday. He is having restart problems when the engine is hot, which is likely the fuel accumulator. If the car will always start cold, but has to sit for awhile after being driven before it will start, the accumulator is almost always the culprit. I recommend doing the accumulator and filter together, and since you have the fuel system depressurized, I always do the check valve at the fuel pump …

996 supercharged back up and running!
It was a nice feeling to get go through this and fix the “things” that have happened since I last saw it. Old O2 sensor unscrewed. Yuck. Now to get to the electrical connector. Remove the outer intake pipe. Then the charge cooler comes out of the way. Once I got in there, I found one of the pipes was disconnected. Funny thing is, my old paint marks are still on the pipes from where the hose coupler should properly …

996 Spark Plugs
Threw in new spark plugs today. Garage is pretty much shut down for the next 7 days while the new epoxy floor cures, so had to knock it out in the driveway. Eeeek. Remove the outer heat shield. And it exposes the coil packs. Remove the coil packs and you can get to the plugs. They were pretty nasty looking! Tomorrow I should have the MAF, O2 sensor, and the ignition switch and this thing should be out the door!

Hello Old Girl…..
Life has not been kind to you. We can change that though! A lot of dash lights on, with an intermittent CEL. Lot of history with this car. Though I haven’t seen the car in years, this is the car that started it all for me. Back when I was young pup (ok, I still am….suckas!), I was finishing up my postceptorship for my D.C. degree working for another chiropractor in town. I was working there during the day, and …

996TT Work
Last night we knocked out some work on a 996TT. The car had sat for a few months on a trickle charger, but when the owner went to start it, the battery was dead. He tried jumping it, then eventually replaced the battery. Once he got it going though, his radio had no power. First we got it up on the lift and knocked out the 6 month oil change on it. Pretty straight forward. Since the radio had no …
